Tessera
Tessera or Tesserae are an option available to children of the districts that are eligible for the Hunger Games. If their family is starving they can add their name to the Reaping additional times in exchange for one tessera. A tessera contains a meager year’s supply of grain and oil for one person, but this is not enough to keep anyone alive for very long. Each eligible citizen is allowed to take one tessera out for each member of their family and the additional Reaping entries are accumulative and will remain with the person until they are no longer eligible for the drawing.
